In Winchester… This October…
Take part in Spooky Winch – A city-wide Halloween-themed Spooky Word Hunt!
This October and during the school half-term week, Winchester Business Improvement District (BID) are organising a free and fun-filled, Halloween-themed trail activity, for kids and big kids alike. The Spooky Winch Word Hunt will run from Saturday 17 October to Saturday 31 October 2020.
Walk around the mysterious and eerie cobbled streets of Winchester and seek out all nine Halloween-themed words hidden in pumpkin signs displayed in the windows of local businesses. Complete and return an activity sheet from either the Visitor Information Centre or Winchester Discovery Centre. Once you have found all nine words, you can hand back your trail sheet to either of these two locations to then collect a Halloween-themed goody bag and also be entered into a prize draw to win a Halloween-inspired hamper, filled with lots of great gifts, kindly donated by local businesses.
Thania Miah, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Winchester BID said:
“We are delighted to be hosting Spooky Winch again this year, with many local businesses getting involved in this Halloween-theme seasonal activity. This is a great opportunity for us to work with local businesses and other local partner organisations to help promote everything that Winchester has to offer this October.
After the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown earlier this year, the Spooky Winch Word Hunt is a great way of introducing people to all the different areas of the city safely and is a fun familiarisation activity centred around the heart of our beautiful heritage city.”
The Word Hunt is open to all ages and the Halloween-inspired hamper prize is a very attractive incentive to all. Please remember to follow the latest social distancing guidelines and respect the safety of others whilst taking part in this free city-wide activity. Winchester BID invites you to make a day of it and enjoy some of Winchester’s shops, cafes, restaurants and other local businesses along the way. You can get involved in fancy dress if you would like to and don’t forget to tag @WinchesterBID and use #SpookyWinch on social media with your spooky selfies, so we can keep up with all the fun.
Download your Spooky Winch activity sheet or collect a copy from the Visitor Information Centre or Winchester Discovery Centre from Saturday 17 October.
Good luck and we hope you enjoy visiting Winchester this Halloween.
