Helping businesses and organisations protect themselves against the growing threat of cyber and digital crime is the mission of Hampshire Constabulary’s Cyber Protect team, which has just been launched.

Part of the national Digital Investigation and Intelligence programme, the team is based at the constabulary’s support headquarters at Netley, and has a remit across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.  The Cyber Protect team members are Detective Sergeant Ivor Bowen and Cyber Security & Protect Advisor Lucy Dibdin.  Ivor has 27 years’ experience with the force, largely based in CID and investigations, and Lucy was a media and communications manager with the force prior to moving to this brand new role.

The Cyber Protect team was created in January this year, with its role focused on supporting vulnerable groups including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), other businesses and organisations, and preventing them from becoming victims of cyber-dependent crime.  The team offers talks and presentations on information security to business groups, and will be issuing alerts to local businesses regarding current, new and emerging online threats.  To help spread this important message, a new business-focussed Twitter account has been launched this month. Please follow @HCCyberProtect for latest alerts and information.

Anyone interested in arranging a Cyber Protect talk should e-mail the team at: DIIProtect@hampshire.pnn.police.uk
