It was hotly contested competition with over 700 members of the public voting for more than 40 local businesses but the winners of our poll to find Winchester’s Favourite Independent Businesses were finally crowned last night.
The poll ran throughout July and members of the public were encouraged to vote with the opportunity to win a hamper of prizes worth more than £800 all donated by the independent businesses of Winchester – the incredible hamper included something for everyone, from a Nike football from Wilds Sports, to a juicer from Rawberry and an impressive £100 to spend in Pavilion Fashion! The hamper was won by one very lucky Martin Browne.
As for the businesses there were three separate awards up for grabs – the first award for Winchester’s favourite retailer went to Jeremy France Jewellers with ParkLifeKids and Kingsgate Wines and Provisions also making the shortlist. The food and drink award was won by Chococo who pipped The Chesil Rectory and Cafe Monde to the post, meanwhile The Independent Holiday Shop scooped up the award for the services sector just beating Mawson and Company and Jack Rabbits Barbers.
Winchester BID would like to congratulate all the winners – these really were some very close run races and everyone who took home a plaque on the night should be very proud!
