If you, being a better person than me, have been battling through Dry January then congratulations – the end is in sight! As you probably already know Winchester BID have teamed up with local food and drink gurus Cabinet Rooms to provide the citizens of our lovely city with the first ever Winchester Cocktail Week expertly timed to allow you to celebrated the end of your sober month with a Danebury Bakewell (amaretto, Danebury sparkling wine and Yarty cherry cordial) in The Corner House or a New Foraged Bramble (Conker Gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, blackcurrant liqueur and toasted rosemary) at No.5 Bridge Street – check out the website, lovingly created by Rooster Creative Marketing, for full details on the week’s menu.
Clearly from the BID’s perspective cocktail week will be about more than simply providing the spirit lovers of the city with some fancy new flavours for a week. We are very proud of the way that the event has managed to reach out to so many of our levy payers – from the kind sponsorship of our new Parchment Street neighbours Paris Smith LLP to the Theatre Royal’s willingness to hand over their bar to Cabinet Rooms for the duration of the week this first festival of mixology has touched parts of the city that the average Wintonian would never associate with a perfect martini.
The first ever Winchester Cocktail Week stands to prove one simple fact – that businesses in Winchester can achieve truly exciting things when they choose to work together. We’ve seen this many times over the years, most recently perhaps when so many of them turned over their space and their cash to the Woolly Hat Fair and secured a truly magical festive experience in the city, and some well-deserved coverage on the national news. The strength of our community is one of the key factors that makes business in Winchester great and so, in the spirit of community Winchester BID is offering discounted cocktail week wristbands to its levy payers – enter the code WINBID16 at the checkout (until midnight on Sunday January 31st)
