Central Winchester Regeneration’s Archaeology Advisory Panel’s findings and recommendations will be shared at the next Informal Policy Group (IPG) meeting, which is being held in public on Monday 19 March 2018.
Cllr Caroline Horrill, Council Leader and Chair of the Informal Policy Group, said:
“Throughout our engagement and consultation, people have been interested in the arrangements we will be making to ensure archaeology is preserved appropriately as the city centre regeneration progresses and so I’m grateful to the work Professor Biddle and the [Archaeology Advisory] Panel have done to give us an expert steer.”
The meeting, which is being held in the Bapsy Hall, Guildhall Winchester from 6.00pm, will also receive an update about the formal consultation on the draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), including the emerging themes from the feedback.
Cllr Horrill added:
“We were pleased with the level and detail of the responses we received from individuals and groups across the District, and I look forward to discussing the key themes at the IPG meeting.
“We received over 200 responses, although the amount of actual feedback is vast as many people commented on more than one element. We are so pleased to be making continuing progress towards the adoption of the SPD and the vision for the rejuvenation of central Winchester.”
The consultation responses will be considered and incorporated, where relevant, into a final SPD that will be formally adopted by Cabinet in early June.
