As part of Winchester BID’s third term which runs from 2018 to 2023, an annual budget of £50,000 has been allocated to promote and support independent businesses in the city centre.
In April we launched a new Independents Advisory Group to represent the interests of BID Members who operate independent businesses and to help develop a new programme of campaigns and projects which will be funded by the BID.
Applications were welcomed from individuals who are proactively engaged with the independent business community and able to make contributions collectively on behalf of the retail and food and drink sectors. Following the application process, the group has been established and includes 7 representatives from the retail sector and 7 representatives from the food and drink sector.

Be part of our celebration of independent businesses this July
Independents Month takes place in July and as part of this we are inviting you to take part in a special Winchester Independents Market on Sunday 22nd July. The market, which will take place in the High Street, will be a showcase of Winchester’s independent businesses. Booking, gazebo hire and access to power will be free to you and paid for by the BID.
