Traffic, parking and trying to find a space can be frustrating enough, but over the festive period, the city can get very busy with shoppers and visitors. Winchester BID has three initiatives to help ease parking stress this Christmas:
ParkWinchester App
Our parking app, available on both Apple and Android, shows real-time parking information across Winchester’s main car parks and Park & Ride sites. Check which car parks are full and which have spaces left. It even has a handy map feature to help locate the car parks. But please remember not to use the app when driving your vehicle.
Search “ParkWinchester” on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store to download yours.
Extra Park & Ride Services
Winchester BID and Winchester City Council have jointly funded Park & Ride services on Sundays (Park & Ride is usually available Monday – Saturday) to help ease parking conjestion in the inner-city. The Park & Ride is just £3 for an all day parking ticket, with up to 7 passengers.
Saturday parking for BID businesses
Up to 140 spaces are available for free to BID Members on Saturdays and Sundays in the run up to Christmas. Hampshire County Council is providing access to the basement level of Tower Street car park, usually utilised by their employees during the week.
This offer is exclusively for BID Members only, but will help free up spaces for your customers and clients elsewhere in the city. We would still encourage staff to use the park and ride if they’re able to, but we recognise that this isn’t viable for some businesses due to the nature of appointments.
The car park will be available from 07:00 – 18:30 on the following: 9th/10th December and 16th/17th December
The car park will be and manned at all times but in order for this to be viable, at least 70 spaces need to be reserved by businesses on both days.
If you are a BID Member and would like to reserve your business parking space, please send an email to enquiries@winchesterbid.co.uk stating your name, business and vehicle registration.
