Winchester Business Improvement District (BID) has successfully renewed its British BIDs Accreditation, which is the industry recognised standard and externally assessed by independent auditors.
British BIDs Accreditation is designed in line with the Business Plan Criteria and the National Guiding Principles for BIDs. Accreditation provides assurance to the Board, the team, levy payers and partners that the BID is well run, and that the right governance, financial and management processes are in place.
The accountability and transparency of BIDs is critical, and adherence to the accreditation standards provides stakeholders with a reassurance that the BID is operating in accordance with these expectations. Accreditation provides an assessment of governance, management and operations, finance, performance management, communication and reporting. The British BIDs Advisory Board said “Winchester BID demonstrates exemplary standards in its operations and is a strong candidate for this prestigious award.”
The Winchester Business Crime Reduction Partnership, which is managed by Winchester BID, is also separately accredited by the National Association of Business Crime Partnerships and this was renewed last year.
Huw Miles of Paris Smith Solicitors and Chair of the Winchester BID Board of Directors, said: “The feedback report glows with praise, which illuminates the enormous contribution made by member businesses and on their behalf the Winchester BID team. We should all be very proud of the work we have done and will continue to do together.”
Paul Spencer, Executive Director of Winchester BID said: “We are very pleased to share the news that we have successfully renewed our British BIDs Accreditation. Demonstrating that we meet the criteria and the positive endorsement from British BIDs should give our member businesses confidence in Winchester BID, which represents the city’s business community working together for a better promoted city, a safe and secure city, a clean, attractive and sustainable city, and a thriving business community.”
