Silver Hill update
Essential work is progressing behind the scenes to enable the long-awaited Silver Hill development in Winchester to start on site by the end of the year.
Since councillors took the decision to go ahead with the 2009 scheme in July, the Council has been working with TH Real Estate to progress the key social housing and funding conditions contained in the Development Agreement.
The developer aims to complete these and make the agreement unconditional within the next two months so that work can begin on site by the end of December.
The developer sent an open letter to the Council which was used to update Cabinet on 21 October. It sets out details of the work that has been undertaken since Julyand that which is currently envisaged over the coming months:
• Detailed drafts of the funding and social housing agreements are with the developer’s solicitors to progress
• A preferred contractor and joint-venture residential partner has been selected following a competitive tender process
• The developer’s design team is working to ensure that all the necessary consents are in place to allow a start on site by the end of December 2015
• A public information event may be held in early December if sufficient progress is made by the developer
