Winchester businesses voted in favour of a fourth term of five years for the Business Improvement District (BID) in November 2022. At the time there were 924 hereditaments and the outcome of the Winchester BID ballot was 77% in favour by number of votes received and 83% in favour by the rateable value of votes received.
During the previous three terms, Winchester businesses invested over £7 million through the payment of an annual levy, to deliver a programme of projects, services and events to improve the city centre as a business location. Over £750,000 more was also raised through grants, sponsorship and project generated income. The BID successfully delivered three business plans over the three previous terms. The most recent included the delivery of projects to position and promote Winchester, manage and enhance the cityscape, support business growth, and influence and inspire positive change.
The fourth term of five years began on 1 April 2023 and the business plan, Securing a Stronger Future for Winchester, can be viewed below.
