On Thursday 17th November, Winchester BID hosted the switch on ceremony for the Winchester Christmas lights outside the Guildhall. Thousands of people gathered to enjoy the entertainment and watch as the city was illuminated ready for the festive period.
The evening was a wonderful celebration with acts including live singers and dance performances. However, the evening also helped to promote the diverted giving scheme ‘Spare Change for Real Change’. This scheme collects money for two Winchester homeless charities – Trinity Winchester and Winchester Churches Night Shelter.
We’d like to thank all of the volunteers who dressed up and collected funds on the very cold evening and we are delighted to have raised £253.36 for the cause.
